Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy reflections & feedback ….

You may be new to BDCST or have recieved a session yourself from the time you were born or as an adult. I believe it can be a beautiful opportunity to support your own or your baby’s health and wellbeing. Clients report that after Craniosacral therapy their whole sense of wellbeing feels improved. Words that are often used are grounded, soothed, pain has shifted. CST cannot claim to cure disease but there is an increasing amount of anecdotal evidence and new research into the benefits of recieving CST.

My own family has felt the huge benefits of CST. My partner was very ill 10 years ago with Hydrocephalus ( fluid on the brain). He suffered with severe headaches, loss of balance, weight loss, extreme tiredness and his speech was sometimes slurred. When a scan showed the fluid affecting his brain he was refered to a neurosurgeon. Over the 6 weeks we were waiting for the surgical appointment he decided to try CST. With good fortune and skill all his detrimental symptoms faded away and he never had the surgery which was being proposed. I also witnessed CST support a premature baby 30 years ago as a student midwife. This little baby also had hydrocephalus and his symptoms started to settle after the parents had a CST brought to the NICU unit.

So I have great faith in a holistic approach to our health. I worked as a midwife within the NHS for 25 years and have observed how excellent medical care can save lives. I have also witnessed how there are many different holistic approaches to supporting our health and wellbeing that can be brought in at different times.

I love offering CST because it is a gentle light touch therapy. The person is essentially ‘healing’ themselves and I am giving them a door to open , release, integrate and bring a sense of balance to themselves. Balance in their mind, body and soul. I have an in depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology and my natural innate approach which people say they find therapeutic.

I have given some feedback from different CST sessions below .

May 2026 T & 2 week old Baby

Hi Rachel , We had our baby two weeks ago. It was a fairly long labour …….someone suggested he may benefit from some CST.

So , I met Mama and baby for an hour at my home. We discussed their birth and how her baby might have felt during this experience. I placed my hands gently on Mama & Baby whilst they were breastfeeding. A few days later I recieved this message ‘Well he has certainly been more settled! he slept for 5 hours last night!! and he has been taking bigger and longer feeds too . I feel like a new woman …we’ve had a much more restful day and I’m feeling good about that going forwards’

April 2026 E & 18 month old toddler

‘Hi Rachel ….. F hasn’t been sleeping well for the last few weeks . She wakes herself up every hour screaming …….as if in pain. …she is happy in the day so i don’t think it is teething or tummy trouble…… do you think this is something you may be able to help with?’

So , I will never claim to definitely be able to help but I have found that almost everyone who has had CST with me has felt a shift in themselves or their baby and this has only been of benefit.

We had a session with the family and I spoke to her toddler and showed her how she was born with a doll and pelvis. She loved plunging the baby through the pelvis! and she also sat on me ( of her own accord) and I placed my hands on her head on the areas that might have felt compressed during her birth.

A week later Mama sent me a message ‘ F slept from 7:30 till 5:30 this morning with no stirring at all , she looked so peaceful’

With CST on babies I am helping them tell their birth story through talking with the parents and observing the baby’s body language. The baby recognises that I am bringing some understanding to what they have felt during their birth and this helps them integrate the sensations and feel heard and settle. This might sound slightly ‘mad’ but it is very helpful for babies and adults.

2022 Mama & baby R

Baby R came with his mum to see me when he was 3 weeks old. He was refusing to suckle at the breast and had , had a shock emergency caesarian birth. His mother had been put to sleep for the operation.

Baby R was jumpy and showing signs of shock and a freeze response in his system. However he and his mother responded very well to one session of CST. I held him behind his head and his tailbone( sacrum). He nuzzled at his mother and latched on and breastfed. maybe he needed the sense of being heard, space and safety that CST touch can bring, Maybe also his mother felt supported and this gave her confidence to let him suckle effectively.

There is rarely one ‘thing’ that cures the whole scenario. However time, patience and listening plus CST can be a wonderful combination and very supportive for a new parent.

2023 MR M 76 yearsold

Mr M had fallen and broken his pelvis whilst working on his roof . He had spent months recovering and was still suffering lower back pain months on from the accident.

Mr M had two sessions of CST and reported back to me that his pain had dimished and he was once agin able to enjoy going out for a walk and more DIY.
